“You’re sure you want to know?” Michael asked, his deep baritone voice sounding grim. “Ignorance really can be bliss, you know. Michael was the private investigator I had hired to track my wife, Vicky. Over the last year she had been spending more and more late nights at the office and I was worried she might be cheating on me.

At first the late nights didn’t seem like a big deal, and I shrugged off the feeling that something was wrong. But then one night a week turned into two or three, and Vicky’s behavior changed in other ways too. Her routine had always included a shower first thing in the morning, but lately she was showering at night instead—especially on the nights she got home late. The more time she spent away from home, the more excuses she made. Most of the time it was working late, but she was also spending a lot more time out with her friends. Or so she said.

And then there was the expensive new lingerie. It seemed like every week she came home with a new set, each one sexier than the last. I had no problem with that of course, except that she never wore them around me. What exactly did she need all those lacy thongs and push-up bras for?

Yet even when she came home smelling of men’s cologne—and not the scent I wore—I still couldn’t bring myself to believe that Vicky was cheating on me. After all, we still had a fairly active sex life. We’d been married for over a decade, yet the sex was just as frequent and passionate as when we were newlyweds. If anything, she seemed more interested in sex now than at any other point in our relationship. She was insatiable.

The one sitting on top did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
